Baker Street

This Irish sports bar is the same one Tom Cruise manned in the movie Cocktail (1988) and is named after Sherlock Holmes' place of residence. Menu items include Irish food like Bangers n' Mash and Shepherds Pie, in addition to traditional American bar fare such as burgers, sandwiches and finger-licking appetizers. This hidden, elegant, 20-seat Bowery cocktail bar is hidden behind a blue door in Freemans Alley and is perched on the second floor of the space housing Freemans Restaurant. 

Bar '21'

A new addition to one of New York’s most legendary restaurants, the ’21’ Club, this retro-glam watering hole serves signature cocktails (Lavender-Lime Rickey, Gin and Cyn) and pulls artisanal draft beers from Brooklyn, Dublin, San Francisco and Munich. Bar bites include mini versions of the restaurant’s famed burger. M-F noon-close, Sa 5 pm-close. $$$

Bar 54

Located 54 floors above street level, this indoor/outdoor rooftop lounge is the city’s highest, mixing craft cocktails with impeccable skyline views. Su-W 4 pm-1 am, Th-Sa 4 pm-2 am. $$$

Coco Chanel is this luxe 40-seat lounge’s muse, where seasonal cocktails complement the bar food taken from the seasonal menu of the adjacent Café Boulud. Su-Th noon-midnight, F & Sa noon-1:00 am. $$

Bar Sardine

A corner bar with a casual air that serves up creative, modern cocktails (black pepper grasshopper: Kringle Cream liqueur, cacao, Wondermint, almond milk, black pepper) alongside fresh oysters and seasonal small plates (cod fritters with lemon-mayo; Arctic char tartare with avocado and "everything" pretzels) amid a vaguely vintage decor.
