The Inheritance

The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical

Adapted from the novel by Rick Riordan, the rock musical follows a present-day teen—a son of the Greek god Poseidon—on his mission to find Zeus’ lightning bolt to prevent a war between the gods.

The Lion King

Theatergoers sing along at the runaway hit stage version of Disney’s beloved animated movie, enjoying such songs by multiple Grammy winner Elton John as “Circle of Life,” “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” and “Hakuna Matata,” as well as spectacular masks and dazzling puppets.

The Loeb Boathouse Central Park

Rowboats, ocean kayaks and a range of bikes are available for rental daily (10 a.m.-dusk), as well as Venetian gondola half-hour tours around the lake ($30). Boat rentals are $12 for the first hour, $2.50 for each additional 15 minutes, prices vary for bike rentals.

The New Amsterdam Trail

The free 90-minute audio tour takes tourists along the historic Dutch Settlement, allowing them to visualize Manhattan through the eyes of Henry Hudson. The tour can be downloaded at www.nyharborparks.org.

The New York Beer and Brewery Tour

These beer-lover tours include The Signature Tour ($125), a 4.5-hour tour in a luxury van, where you will visit four breweries, drink a wide variety of local craft beer, learn how beer is made, enjoy artisanal food and beer pairings and more. The Express Tour ($79) is a three-stop, three-hour tour which begins at McSorley’s Old Ale House and also includes transportation and snacks.

The New York Botanical Garden's Literary Audio Tour

In collaboration with the Nat’l Endowment for the Arts, visitors and locals can explore the historic park with a fresh perspective as they listen to eight local writers’ flora-inspired poetry and prose on their cell-phones while following a designated route. Tues-Sun. $8-$20.

The Phantom of the Opera

Broadway’s longest-running musical, based on the novel by Gaston Leroux and featuring a score by Andrew Lloyd Webber, tells the tragic story of a disfigured composer who falls in love with a young soprano, whisking her away to his mysterious chambers beneath the Paris Opera House.
