New York truly looks magical in the freezing wintery white weather. Unfortunately our skin, hair and nails, not so much!
The cold and heat can be extremely drying and leaves us dreaming of escaping to warmer climates. Put your bags down and take note, there are lots of tricks to help you through the blustery weather without leaving town.
1. Try using a heavier moisturizer. If you generally are sensitive to a heavy moisturizer, give one a try in the winter…your skin will thank you!
2.Exfoliate-Make sure to remove dead dry skin by using either a cream or handheld brush exfoliator 1-2 times a week.
3.Always wear sunblock- SPF is not just for the summer. You can get a huge amount of skin damage from the sun in the colder months. Especially as it reflects off the snow.
4.Drink lots of H2O-I’m not a doctor, but it does keep your skin plumped up.
5.Deep Condition- Once per week put a deep conditioning moisture pack on your hair and let it sit as long as possible…even overnight if you can….your hair drinks it up, no more dry brittle locks.
6.The Balm- Lip Balm to be exact…No one like dried out flaky lips. First apply your favorite balm, then a lip liner all over your lip followed by a hint of gloss or your favorite lipstick. This will keep your lips moist and your color on longer.
7.Shine on- We all want shimmery glowing red carpet worthy skin. Apply either a SMALL AMOUNT of liquid or finely milled shimmer powder to your upper check bone.
8.Cheeky- Pop those cheeks. If you want to have that apre ski look- fresh, clean and invigorated; hit the apples of your cheeks with a pinky/peach blush. This helps eliminate the pale and sallow wintery tone.
9.Fake it till you make it.- A little “gradual” self tanner 1-2 times a week can take the edge off of the winter blues (or whites) until the thaw.
10.Nail it- If you can’t hand-le the cold weather without dried out broken nails, try a “bonder” primer on them as a base coat and don’t forget a top coat as well…plus keep the cream handy…it also helps moisturize your nails!!
Follow my tips and you’ll be smooth, moist and shiny before the next blizzard!
