The Pirates of Penzance; or, The Slave of Duty This Week

Looking for a cultural outing this week? Why not see The Pirates of Penzance; or, The Slave of Duty? This comic opera will kick off MasterVoices’ 2015-2016 season at 8 p.m. at New York City Center October 15 and 16.

The star-studded cast features big names of stage and screen, including Metropolitan Opera star Deborah Voigt, Hunter Parrish from Showtime’s Weeds fame, Tony Award nominees Phillip Boykin (The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess) and Montego Glover (Memphis), Tony Award winner Douglas Hodge (La Cages aux Folles), The Phantom of the Opera’s Julia Udine, and Betsy Wolfe (The Last Five Years). The cast will feature the Orchestra of St. Luke’s performing Arthur Sullivan's original orchestrations under the direction of Artistic Director Ted Sperling.
