Have some festive fun this holiday season at one of these limited-time-only shows:

On of the most renowned holiday performances is the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. The high-kicking Rockettes, dancing elves and living nativity scene will have both children and adults in awe. The show ends its run on December 31st with a final 2:30 p.m. performance.

From kick-lines to ballet, another Christmas-themed dance show is George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker™ at Lincoln Center. Many companies perform this classic piece, but the New York City Ballet incorporates highly skilled dancers with elaborate sets, costumes and choreography making it an incredibly popular choice. The ballet closes after its January 3rd performance.

A goofier holiday show, the touring musical Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! plays at The Theater at Madison Square Garden though December 28th.  The play features colorful costumes and makeup and plenty of songs sure to entertain.

Now through January 19th, head to the Bronx for a more flora and fauna centric experience: the New York Botanical Garden’s Holiday Train Show. While it’s a great spot to bring kids, the show also includes a handful of adults-only Bar Car Nights with complimentary cocktails, live music and ice sculpting demonstrations.

If trains are really your thing, the New-York Historical Society Museum & Library’s current exhibit Holiday Express: Toys and Trains from the Jerni Collection is not to be missed. Covering much of the Society’s first floor with model trains and train-related memorabilia.
