I’m sure you’ve heard of the historic landmark, the Apollo Theater in Harlem. But did you know that there’s also the Apollo music café, a cozy space where rising artists perform regularly? Well, here’s a great opportunity to head uptown and check it out. I am so excited to announce the returning of John Holiday to the Apollo on May 3, as he headlines this intimate café performance with a set that effortless connects the African American musical traditions of jazz, R&B and gospel with opera.

I had the honor of witnessing Holiday’s talent when he performed an ethereal music concert in a church crypt (yes, a crypt) last year that was unbelievable. The ease in which Holiday moves through genres is incredible tied to his beautful story telling is sure to make this a night to remember. The talented countertenor is also the winner of the 2017 Marian Anderson Vocal Award and nominee for “Newcomer of the Year” by the German magazine Opernwelt, and has quickly established himself as a fast-rising singer to watch, with a voice that has been praised as “a thing of astonishing beauty” (New Yorker).
