Last week, a group of coworkers and I went out for lunch. We looked for something nearby and affordable, ultimately deciding on Banc Café. Although the front of the restaurant is very open with floor-to-ceiling windows on two sides (it sits on the corner of Third Avenue and E. 30th Street), the back room we sat in was decidedly cozier with booth seating and round tables. Most of the menu looked delicious, but I chose a chicken BLT on crispy wheat toast, oozing with creamy herbed mayo and a side of salty French fries. My coworkers ordered an array of burgers, appetizers, wraps and soups plus some specialty cocktails, like a watermelon-tini, which featured a sizable chunk of watermelon wedged onto the martini glass.
