Three Unique Inwood Eateries

Garden Café, The Park View and Inwood Local are three of my favorite Inwood restaurants. Not surprisingly, the trio of eateries is owned by the same family. Despite this similarity, these restaurants offer distinctly unique features.

Garden Café is more of a sit-down, family restaurant with a classic menu that offers egg-based breakfast choices, burgers and sandwiches for lunch and dinner options that include wine-deglazed chicken and penne vodka. My favorite aspect is their outdoor seating in the summer: they have a large backyard space dotted with umbrella-shaded tables. In the winter, they enclose half of this area and turn on heat lamps to keep diners warm.

At Inwood Local, you’ll find a younger clientele and a wide variety of craft beers. It’s a great spot for group get-togethers as it has a large back room with plenty of seating and a large flat screen TV. Inwood Local also has dinner and brunch menus that include plenty of small or shareable plates.

A few blocks south of Garden Café and Inwood Local, The Park View has been a neighborhood staple for decades. In response to the burgeoning restaurant scene on Dyckman Street, the tiny diner was transformed a few months ago into a warm and more spacious restaurant that serves a variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner dishes. In the morning, you can even grab a cup of coffee, tea or espresso drink to go from their bar, which also serves wine and beer to stay. I stopped by recently for lunch and enjoyed a cup of cranberry orange tea and a more flavorful and interesting take on the basic grilled cheese and tomato soup combo. With a comfortable and friendly atmosphere, it’s a great spot to have a drink or a snack alone or with friends.
