The other day, despite the rain and my lack of umbrella, I ventured out to my favorite lunch spot: the Morris Grilled Cheese truck. Whenever the truck parks near our office, I crave one of their gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches. I started out by trying the classic sandwich, made with New York cheddar and Landaff cheese, but soon found my favorite was their Gouda sandwich, melted between perfectly toasted slices of bread with bacon and sweet corn chili butter. This time, I tried the Tilsit sandwich with smoked turkey, bacon jam and basil butter. The $9 price may seem steep for a sandwich, but after one bite I knew it was worth the cost and the raindrops. Don’t trust me? The truck was started by former Per Se cook Michael Jacober and, according to Grub Street, it has become so popular that Jacober and his partners are opening a shop in Prospect Heights.
