A few weeks ago, my boyfriend and I went to ABC Kitchen—an awesome eatery near Union Square—for dinner. He had been searching for new places to try and stumbled upon the restaurant. Its excellent reviews didn’t even do it justice: absolutely everything was delicious. We started with pretzel-dusted calamari, which was better than any I’ve had outside of Italy. For our main course, we split a small pizza with soft, buttery spinach and goat cheese. Then came dessert. We couldn’t decide between doughnuts or chocolate cake and ended up splitting both. The doughnuts come fresh from the oven and vary depending on the day. We had a grape glazed, maple-cream-filled and chocolate frosted with pecan sprinkles. On the side, we had a sweet cranberry sauce to dip them in. We also dipped the cake, topped with toasted marshmallow frosting, in the sauce. The friendly staff and elegant décor made the meal even better. For reservations or to browse their current menu, check out abckitchennyc.com.
