Astoria’s Ultimate Comfort Food at Queens Comfort

Astoria’s Ultimate Comfort Food at Queens Comfort

Last weekend, my sister convinced me to trek out to Astoria, Queens for brunch at her new favorite spot, Queens Comfort. If you’re looking to cure a hangover with comfort food and dim lighting, this is the perfect restaurant. There’s also plenty to entertain you while you dine: Saturday morning cartoons play on a large screen in the back of the space while oddities like a Ronald McDonald head, a disco ball and an assortment of bowling trophies decorate the walls.

Then there’s the food. We started with chicken and waffle balls: deep-fried balls of waffle batter stuffed with coconut-flavored chicken. This appetizer takes a classic Southern combo and puts its own unique spin on it in a more bite-sized version. Next we had a variety of main dishes and sides, including crème brûlée French toast made with gooey brioche bread, eggplant nuggets with tangy honey mustard and cheese-drenched biscuits speckled with sausage and green onions. Everything on the menu looked delicious and it was no surprise that Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives recently filmed at the Astoria joint.

Queens Comfort has a BYOB alcohol policy, but they have plenty of non-alcoholic drinks available like coffee, tea and juice. If you’re visiting for brunch, be sure to get there early to avoid the line. For more information and menus, visit queenscomfort.com.
