La Marina Offers Waterfront-Dining in Northern Manhattan

December 27th, 2012 by Lynn Rickert

Northern Manhattan, know by locals as “Uptown,” is finally becoming ‘cool’ to the outside world. I’ve known it for years, but now MTV is creating a reality show called Washington Heights, and hip-hop power couple Jay-Z and Beyoncé were recently spotted at Inwood’s La Marina. The Hudson River-side restaurant and bar is fairly new, but it has already become a neighborhood hot spot. La Marina features both indoor seating for cold, winter nights and outdoor tables for warmer weather with equally gorgeous views of the George Washington Bridge. Diners can expect a delicious menu of seafood and other dishes along with an extensive wine selection and full bar for specialty cocktails.

In October, my family was visiting and I took them to La Marina for dinner. We got there a little early and watched a group of kayakers paddle around the Hudson while sharing a pitcher of sangria. Unsurprisingly, the waterfront restaurant is boater-friendly with by-boat directions offered on their website. Also mentioned on the site: the restaurant will offer seasonal dock slips for diners arriving by boat starting next summer. For more information (or subway directions), check out lamarinanyc.com.

Thanks for sharing this place with the world, Lynn. Sounds like a nice, only-in-NYC experience. You should also check out New Leaf Restaurant in Fort Tryon Park, where both food and ambiance are amazing!
