Coming off a $19 million, top-to-bottom redesign, this artistically appointed Midtown East boutique hotel boasts a newly designed lobby and revamped guest rooms. More like a chic New York apartment, as opposed to a standard hotel, guests of 50 NYC can grab a glass of wine and relax during the hotel’s Wine Hour—which includes complimentary wine poured every evening in the sleek, yet comfortable Club Room. The 251 residentially designed pied-à-terre-styled accommodations are airy and oversized and come in a variety of room types: from a standard Guest Room with one king or two queen beds (Deluxe Guest Rooms include a pullout sleeper sofa bed and accommodate up to four people), Studio Suites with extra space, and a two-bed sleeping area with a contemporary, modern design; and extra spacious Junior Suites; to One-Bedroom Suites; and Terrace Suites, which come fully appointed with a kitchen and private terrace—the perfect place to enjoy picturesque views of New York City. All studios and suites feature full urban kitchens with stove, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, tableware, teapot and toaster—great for extended-stay guests. Each room contains curated furniture and carefully selected artwork featuring local New York artists. For your work needs, there’s an oversized desk with voicemail, dataport and high-speed Internet access. All rooms also feature flat-screen TVs with a web browser, a signature Affinia bed and Comfort Zone bath products. Accessible Guest Rooms are also available. On the food front, room service is available from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., via a partnership with nearby Indian eatery Mint Restaurant. For something quick, The Cupboard—located in the lobby—is stocked with snacks and sundries, as well as gifts and souvenirs. For a home-cooked meal, Fresh Direct grocery delivery service is available.
